Saco River

Saco River

The Saco River runs through the White Mountains and offers some of the most impressive scenic sights and spectacular mountain views in New England. Paddling along the Saco's clear, cool waters and camping along its white sand beaches is quite popular. Canoeing trips can range from a few hours, up to four days, an excursion that ventures into neighboring Maine.
This river scene was captured during the autumn season when the White Mountain hardwoods display their brilliant foliage. This area is up river from where water excursions take place. Here the large granite boulders, strewn along the river bed, would make a river trip next to impossible.
