Franklin Falls

Cutting through the Cascade Range, almost centered in Washington State, is this site, a wonderful three tiered Franking Falls. Taking advantage of the natural Snoqualmie Pass, Interstate 90's lanes hug each side of the canyon walls. Down below, and well hidden from view, is the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River. As it plunges down the western Cascades slope, its waterfalls create a scenic roadside attraction. In actuality, the lower falls is centered between the east and westbound traffic lanes.
Denny Creek Road, NF #58, winds alongside the Snoqualmie River's edge, following a similar route as early pioneers once used more than a hundred years ago. The Franklin Falls Trail leads through an old growth forest, tracing the river to the base of the falls. Overhead, thousands of cars pass over on the Mountains to Sound Greenway, unaware of the falls below.
