Rhine House

Rhine House

Fredrick and Jacob Berringer, immigrants from Mainz Germany, bought land in Napa Valley, California, in 1875. The valley area reminded them of their old familiar Rhine Valley in Germany. The older brother, Fredrick, began construction of a re-creation of their old family home in 1883. Berringer's Rhine House, located in St. Helena, California, features 17 rooms, redwood construction, a slate roof and original stained glass.
Berringer's Vineyard is the oldest continuous operating winery in the Napa Valley and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
