Rhine House

Rhine House

Fredrick and Jacob Berringer, immigrants from Mainz, Germany, bought their first plot of land in Napa Valley, California, in 1875. The valley area reminded them of their old familiar Rhine Valley in Germany. The older brother, Fredrick, longing to recreate their old family home, began construction of the Rhine House in 1883.
Berringer's Rhine House, located in St. Helena, features 17 rooms, redwood construction, a slate roof and original stained glass.
Berringer's Vineyard is the oldest continuous operating winery in the Napa Valley and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
