Belmont Courthouse

Belmont Courthouse

The Belmont Courthouse stands today in remarkable condition. Partial restoration by the Nevada Division of State Parks has kept the 130 year old building in good repair, also aided by the lack of use during the majority of its years.
Belmont, a Silver Bend mining town, boomed for almost twenty years, producing 15 million dollars in ore production. Huge profits were never realized as the cost of doing business was extremely high. Construction and freight costs whittled away at the bottom line due to the area's remote setting.
In 1974, Nye County deeded the courthouse over to the parks division and is now called the Belmont Courthouse State Historic Park, located 45 miles northeast of Tonopah.
