Mountain City, one of many small towns that dot the North Georgia road map along U.S. Route 441, shows off its rural roots in this scenic view. To emphasize the importance of rural farmland, you'll find the county access road makes a ring, winding all around the valley edges.
     Area farms produce a variety of produce from that sprout from the red Georgia clay, with some going to market and some going to feed the local cattle, llama and poultry. Although quite rural, the area finds itself in tune with worldwide threats of mad cow and avian bird flu diseases.
     As small farms slowly yield to the callous economy, baby boomer retirement communities spring up, and the remaining locals desperately cling to their rural roots, hoping for a profitable year ahead.
