Bear Creek

Bear Creek

Alabama's Little River drops over 1,200 from its lofty beginnings on top of Graces FallsLookout Mountain, creating a rugged, 12 mile long canyon. Little River Canyon was added to the National Park's inventory as a national preserve in 1992, protecting 200 square miles of the Little River watershed area. One of Little River's tributaries is Bear Creek, which also flows out from Lookout Mountain. Along Canyon Rim Drive, where Bear Creek drops into Little River Canyon, Graces Falls Overlook introduces visitors to a thin ribbon waterfall. This 130 foot cascade plunges into the deep canyon between Crow and Eberhart Points. Bear Creek, pictured here, cuts its own gorge into Lookout Mountain, adding an additional four mile drive to the scenic Canyon Rim Drive.
