It may be its fragile form, or the way it sits up on its slickrock pedestal, Wolfe Ranch Cabin - Arches National Park or perhaps it's the reward after a long uphill climb, but whichever the case may be, Delicate Arch remains the main attraction in Arches National Park. Out of 2000 natural occurring arches in the park, Delicate Arch is by far the most popular. The one and a half mile hike begins near the 1906 Wolfe Ranch log house (inset). Seen by hundreds of Delicate Arch hikers every day, this site was where John Wesley Wolfe and his family raised cattle from 1888 to 1910. Beyond the tiny log house, visitors start up a broad slickrock mountain face and continue the long climb to a very narrow, chiseled pathway to see this marvelous natural work of art. Here, Utah's majestic Delicate Arch at Sunset - Arches National Park La Sal Mountains provide a perfect background for this marvelous setting.
One of a dozen Grand Circle national parks, Arches National Park is first experienced over a 40 mile scenic drive, weaving its way through 73,000 acres of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks. Plan on spending at least a half day to see a few close-up views of the park's landscape of sandstone monoliths. Hiking routes provide better access for more ambitious sightseers, wanting to take in some of the best arches and immense rock wonders.
