Old Number 481

Old number 481 is still chugging down the tracks toward Silverton. How old is she? This coal-fired, steam-driven engine dates back to 1925. Colorado's Durango & Silverton Line is now a National Historic Landmark.
After some lean and shaky times, this 36" wide, narrow guage railroad has become a very popular attraction. The scenic train route, along the Animas River and through the San Juan Mountains, has thrilled passengers for the last 125 years.
