A perfect setting for a picnic get-together, whale watching, or a leisurely Pacific Coast stroll. The park is a fitting memorial for Ellen Browning Scripps, a successful publisher and early La Jolla resident. Scripps lived a modest life and donated millions to the community. Her generous gifts established a women's club, public library, Scripps Memorial Hospital, the famous Scripps Institute of Oceanography, and the San Diego Natural History Museum; a few notable items from a long list.
