Ellen Browning Scripps Park

Ellen Browning Scripps Park

Ellen Browning Scripps Park is a wonderful community park along the picturesque shoreline of La Jolla Cove. A perfect setting for a picnic get-together, whale watching, or a leisurely Pacific Coast stroll. The park is a fitting memorial for Ellen Browning Scripps, a successful publisher and early La Jolla resident. Scripps lived a modest life and donated millions to the community. Her generous gifts established a women's club, public library, Scripps Memorial Hospital, the famous Scripps Institute of Oceanography, and the San Diego Natural History Museum; a few notable items from a long list.
La Jolla (lah-HOY-yah) is a seaside resort town within the City of San Diego. This California community is somehow thought of as a separate town, instead of a part of San Diego. A group of residents would like nothing more than the separation to be official, as they have pushed for secession since 2004.
