Delaware River Railroad Excursion

Susquehanna #142

Steam locomotive #142 furnishes all the horsepower needed for scenic tours along the New Jersey side of the Delaware River. The BDRV 595excursion train departs from historic Phillipsburg and is the only active steam powered train in New Jersey. Over a half dozen themed events run throughout the year, from the Easter Bunny Train to the Santa Claus Excursion.
The Susquehanna #142 is the youngest steam locomotive in America, and appears as a vintage engine from the past. The #142 was built in 1988 by the TangShan Locomotive Works in the Peoples Republic of China. The New York Susquehanna & Western Technical and Historic Society owns and operates the Delaware River Railroad Excursion system. The scenic train makes several mainline runs during the year, but primarily operates on weekends over the Belvidere & Delaware Railroad line in partnership with the Black River & Western Railroad.
