Yellowstone's Artist's Point

Yellowstone Falls

At Artist's Point, the Yellowstone River's springtime snowmelt rips through Yellowstone's Grand Canyon, over the 300 foot Lower Fall. This is one of the most popular photo opportunities in Yellowstone National Park. This enchanting view takes on the unnatural appearance of an oil painting on a canvas. Here the yellow rocks are quite evident, getting their color from the iron casts within.
Along the canyon's north and south rims are over a half dozen vantage points and overlooks. Five trails and a paved drive, on both north and south rims, lead to many of the canyon's splendid views. Some of the trails take visitors to close-up views of the falls, were you also get a feeling of the tremendous power of the water flow.
