     Capitola Beach, rounding the northern crescent of Monterey Bay, remains in contention for best beach year after year. This colorful beach scene, dressed in a Mediterranean flair, includes Venetian Hotel. Just steps from the beach, the hotel is a big part of the historic Village of Capitola. The Venetian Hotel features ocean view balconies, fireplaces and a wide variety of room combinations.
      Popular with local residents as well as out-of-towners, the beach is the place for volleyball, sand castle contests, swimming, bogie boarding and pier fishing. Saloons, restaurants, coffee houses, craft galleries and boutiques line the city streets. Perched up on the hill by the Soquel Creek Lagoon, Capitola's Shadowbrook Restaurant offers extraordinary seafood, making this a great dining option. Capitola Beach is one of the standouts along California's seemingly endless string of colorful coastal towns.
