Smith Creek

Georgia's Anna Ruby Falls Scenic Area is set inside the Chattahoochee National Forest. The big attraction is an unusual twin cascade, where Curtis Creek drops 150 feet, and its twin from York Creek is a 50 foot waterfall. Both streams join together below the falls and form Smith Creek. It's along Smith Creek that thousands climb toward the popular twin falls. The half mile route offers a paved pathway for an easy climb. The scenic settings around Smith Creek causes visitors to stop and admire the swift flowing stream, flowering rhododendron, and overhanging trees. The creek flows out by the visitor center, alongside a wonderful picnic area, and out toward Unicoi State Park and a 50 acre Unicoi Lake. A moderately challenging trail begins at the base of Anna Ruby Falls, and covers 4.5 miles to the Unicoi Park. This convenient attraction, nearby the town of Helen, sees a steady stream of sightseers.
