Headwaters of the Snake

Headwaters of the Snake

What better name could possibly be used for a river with hundreds of twists and turns along its 1,000 mile journey toward the Pacific. The Snake River begins in western Wyoming and flows through Idaho, Oregon and Washington states. Eventually the Snake joins the Columbia River. Along its northwestern flow, it is joined by several large tributaries, including the Salmon, Boise, Henry's Fork of the Snake River and Clearwater rivers.
Here in the Tetons the Snake River lacks the punch that hard-core white water rafters are seeking. But for those looking for leisure, this area provides miles of superb river for ever popular fly fishing and canoeing. It also doesn't run short on fantastic scenery for Wyoming's sightseers.
