Oregon Coast

Oregon Coast

The tide has run out leaving a wide swath of beach along the Oregon Coast. The large sea stacks are a major contributor to this west coast signature view. The morning sun wakes a flock of California gulls along the surf. This congregation is in hopes of some tasty morsels brought in on the waves.
Oregon has such a geological diversity, punctuated by the great Cascade Mountain Range. The high Cascades run parallel to the Coast Range, running along the seaboard. Columbia Gorge is the only break in the Cascades separates Oregon from Washington State. Besides being covered in forests, including redwoods and conifers, the state surprisingly contains a sagebrush desert. The majority of the eastern portion of the state remains wild and undeveloped.
