Route 6 winds through the northern tier of Pennsylvania from Milford in the east to Meadville in the west. This scenic highway was completed in 1807 and eventually joined up with a coast to coast route in 1925. Route 6 stretched from Cape Cod, Massachusetts to California's Long Beach.
     Travelers find an untold number of picturesque scenes along the way, including this rustic farm scene in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. This section of Route 6, near Ansonia, winds through the Moosic Mountains and hundreds of miles of wilderness. It didn't take long for villages and farm communities to sprout up along this new highway to the nation's new West.
