The Last Frontier

Alaska, equaling one-fifth the entire size of the continental United States, is also one of the wealthiest per capita. Alaska is so large it covers five climatic regions, having twice the shoreline of the Lower 48, it's covered with half of the world's glaciers, wrinkled with 39 mountain ranges, and topped by the highest peak in North America. There are more than 3000 rivers and 3 million lakes in Alaska. For the sportsman, it's paradise!
The state offers over 75 state parks, many national preserves and monuments, historic sites and wildlife refuges. Alaska is BIG and offers all types of big adventures, ranging from primitive backcountry hiking, kayaking and whitewater rafting to culture entertainment and historic cities. Enjoy a variety of cruises, guided fishing trips, sightseeing tours, wildlife viewing and winter recreation activities. Alaska's 12 scenic byways guide visitors to the state's most majestic scenery, pristine waterways and incredible railway routes.
