Scenic USA Frequently Asked Questions |
FAQ
Over the last few years Scenic USA viewers have asked a lot of questions. Here's the lighter side collection of questions and answers.
Q: How did Scenic USA get started?
A: Occasionally, friends would tell me I took some great photos and should show them off (of course they were friends . . . ).
Q: Why didn't you post my photo?
A: Some photos with obscure subjects are tough to describe. Others of family pets don’t quite capture the essence of what Scenic USA is all about.
Q: If I submit a photo, how will it be used?
A: As stated on the Index Page, "Photographs featured on Scenic USA are copyright protected and belong to the original owner". Photographs that are submitted will grant Scenic USA non-exclusive rights and will strictly be limited to Scenic USA website usage only. A photograph submittal is an agreement that allows Scenic USA the right to crop, enlarge, reduce, and/or to modify the photograph to fit the Scenic USA theme.
Q: How can I get a larger picture?
A: Many contributors offer their images for sale (see the Links 'n' Photo Art page). I will contribute any personal photos for a good cause.
Q: One time I tried to locate an arch that was featured on your web site and could never find it.
A: Sorry, there are no guarantees. Today's handheld GPS units can be very helpful. Note: Basic precautions should always be taken when hiking in the wilderness. It is very important never hike alone. Hikers should know his or her limits. Always leave a written description of your proposed route with park service personel, a friend or family member, and your estimated time of return. For more tips on wilderness precautions check out Christopher Earls Brennen's web page ADVENTURE HIKES AND CANYONEERING IN THE SOUTHWEST.
Q: Who does all the writing or do I have to?
A: Some of the gracious photo contributors also include an article for their feature. I'd be pleased to write an article for your photo if you provide some of the basics. See Submit.
Q: I'd like to see all the photos as a slide show.
A: The Previous and Next navigation buttons will take you through all of the Scenic USA features.
Q: Sometimes the picture is shifted off the page.
A: Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) does funny things. An IE8 fix has been completed. Please let me know if you find any errors.
Q: You must have put on a lot of miles in your travels.
A: Terri and I have been to all the lower 48 states and logged over 120,000 miles.
