The Nation's Capital

Planning to center the Nation's Capital between the country's North and South, George Washington selected a site on the Potomac River that has evolved into today's fascinating Capital City. Known for its grand boulevards, majestic neoclassical architecture and dozens of museums and memorials, Washington DC is also home to 60,000 residents.
The District of Columbia is not only noted for its cultural treasures, but trendy shops, restaurants and endless entertainment. Among the most notable architectural treasures in the National Mall are the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument, Washington National Cathedral, U.S. Capitol Building and the White House.
