   Home to 450 horse farms, Lexington still Horse Farm - Lexington, Kentucky holds to its claim as the horse capital of the world. Although the area is also known for Civil War turmoil, native bourbon distilleries and countryside drives, its racing horse farms are its mainstay.
   The Kentucky Horse Park is a 1200 acre working farm and park, located near I-75. Once surrounded by 28 miles of impressive white fence, soaring costs of fence maintenance has lead to a change in the old tradition. Mr Friendly - Lexington, Kentucky While saving more than 50,000 dollars a year with black plank fencing, horse show rings will remain white for better visibility and safety. Close to 50 horse breeds are represented at the park. Entertaining nearly a million visitors every year, shows include a popular parade of breeds called Horses of the World, the Mare and Foal Show, a stunning film presentation of Rein of Nobility, several museums, and the Hall of Champions.
   This scene is found along Lexington's Bluegrass Driving Tour. Lexington's tour map, one of the city's most frequently requested publications, highlights many horse farms along the route. This scenic byway begins in Lexington and circles the north side of the city, passing over 30 horse ranches.
